Late Night Shopping At Mustafa

(Photo Taken: Mustafa Shopping Center, Singapore – As Gareth said, this is "extreme ransack shopping")

1st 12 Hours with our Autumn Guest

Buddy Meijie landed 20 minutes late on the famous A380 Flight. And we sure packed his 1st 60 hours with back-to-back activities. (Evil laugh "Hee x 4" – I am going to expose him to all the dangerous substance in polluted south China cities). Of course, he is our lovely brother – and I am sure Harshad will be taking GOOD CARE of him. (since he played such a good host to Harshad the last time in Singapore!)

This is Meijie’s 2nd trip with us in Hong Kong. He came around this time last Autumn. (That was quite a dramatic trip for him!) This time, he will stay with us for 10 good days (including his 3-day Taipei tour next weeked – shit, he will miss Elkan’s birthday!). Today, we brought him to MEGABOX (via the ferry downstairs) and he watched his first B-Grade movie with us! Kinda a boring movie but it is certainly better than seeing my guest lazing around on my sofa. (Trust me, that buddy of mine just like to sleep/nap around – it has been 4 years – and he is still doing that!)

I bet you he can’t sleep tomorrow night! Again..Hee x 4. (See Updated Photo Below)

Welcome Hunk & Beauty

A 82kg Presence (Updated)

Bidding farewell to Rovis (leaving him with Tracy), I flew in to Singapore late afternoon yesterday – just in time to give my best friend, Meijie a surprising Birthday Presence! Thanks to Joanne, she helped me to stage this ah-hoc surprise for Meijie at Orchard Cineleisure Complex. Joanne tricked Meijie about a "BIG GIFT from Hong Kong" – she insisted Meije to pick it up at Billy Bomber at 6pm. (Meijie rejected her earlier on, citing that he will collect this gift from Joanne’s office next week!)

I was hiding behind the pillar with a piece of brownie. When Meijie walked in, an evil thought suddenly slipped into my mind. It kept echoed this: "Smack him with the pie… Smack him in the face.." For that spilt second, I almost activate my mind and hand to do such that! Seriously, that would be the best blog moments for Wahbiang and U-Tube. And a perfect Birthday memory for Meijie! Don’t ask me why I didn’t go ahead with that evil thought… somehow, I worried about bad karma. (I am sure Meijie can take such joke)

Maybe I will strike the next birthday star… Mmm..let me see who’s next? (Shoot! It is my mother-in-law! Her birthday is just 1 day after Meijie!)

See Meijie’s birthday photos here (taken on 14th Aug, Friday!)

Juliana’s Masquerade Ball Party!

It has been almost 2 years since Juliana wrote on my blog. A happy mother (sporting a new cute Chinchin Hairdo) and a delighted birthday girl – the Wahbiang Clan planned a surprise "Masquerade Ball" for her while I was partying alone at DGSZ. No blog from me this weekend but I invited the birthday girl herself as my guest writer. In her own words (I thought she wrote very well), here’s the birthday story right from the Horse’s mouth!

By Guest Writer: Juliana Goh

The most thoughtful birthday gift I can say. Stepping into motherhood is never a easy task. Not enough sleep, zechariah’s crying not knowing what he wants + does he has enough milk is always constantly in my mind. This fabulous hotel plan may be just exactly what I need!

The plan told to me was we will head down to Crown Prince Hotel poolside for a drink after dinner. I had no doubts or so whatever until when duuk & I reached the hotel asking me where are we heading. That was when I got a little frustrated because he was on the phone with joanne a min ago asking her where to park. He could have ask her. I gave a call to joanne who did not pick up my call & next Stephen, no response.

That was when Duuk handed me a card holder containing a hotel card & a small note that said “a gift of privacy for the intimate moments…RM 933”. Ok, so this was duuk’s surprise for me I thought. Still thinking that Joanne & gang were waiting for me at the pool side. (At the same time joanne called asking where am I, & I told her we are heading to the room & she replied “ok, you put your stuff in the room 1st & we see you at poolside”.)

Once Duuk & I reached the doorstep, he refused to let me open & handed me a mask to wear. Hmmm… the funny thought did come across my mind – why does duuk want me to wear a mask!! Hehehehe….

Opened the door, slot the hotel card in but no lights activated, on the light and SURPRISE!!

That was when I found out joanne dedicated the job to kal to do up the décor and check-in in the afternoon. The hotel card holder & the bunch of flower cards were hand-made by kal. Take a closely look at the stalk of the flowers, they were hand-painted one by one.

Kudos to Joanne for the well-planned surprise, kal for the beautifully crafted cards & well displayed fruits palette (btw she brought her own wine glasses to cater for the crowd). Stephen whom bought the cake from Canele & the rest of the gang whom had made my 1st birthday event as a mummy a memorable one.

Love you guys!

A Very Very Happy Finale!

THE SWEETEST FINALE EVER: THIS EVENING, I received a surprise gift from my old clan from Singapore. I almost cried out when I saw the content inside! It wasn’t any commercial toy. It was a specially-made customised wooden musical wind-up toy!!!! Hanging on the toy were "special moments" and photos of my best buddies from home. (THANKS JOANNE WHO MADE THIS! You sly..haaa..trying to check me out on the Fedex box???)

Like a little boy, I opened the box, looked at it, wind the music and watched the photos and aeroplanes fly. For that one second, I was transformed to a child – feeling so contented, happy and peaceful. This musical piece is a very very special gift. I will always cherish it. Like all the other good wishes, special handmade gifts (Tracy’s Blog Book & the Birthday Videos Edits, Felicia’s First Cake, that awfully disgusting G-string & the overly expensive PS3 gift) plus the priceless companionships (Macau Trip) I received this birthday, I am very touched & grateful to have a group of friends and loved ones who love me so much. No matter how far you are (be it in London, USA, Taiwan, Malaysia, Shanghai or Singapore), thank you for remembering and making my humble day so special.  Indeed, I have a very very happy birthday.

My Charmed Guru in Singapore!!!

Thanks to Harshad, his presence in Singapore has prompted a couple of "firsts" within my old Wahbiang Clan. First, we have never feast so much "local food" within 1 short day. Second, we experienced a couple of "firsts" with Harshad – like our first "Duck Tour Around Singapore River", "Get Drunk at Orchard Towers", "Shampoo-cum-face-wash at Siglap" and "Shopping Merlion Lighters that come with Titanic Music at Suntec!" Thanks goodness, we weren’t "made" to shop at Mustafa at 2am, tour Night Safari, Merlion-Hunting at Sentosa and 360 ride on the Singapore Flyer with him.

For Harshad, I am sure he has his own share of fun and nightmare. FUN – he has a beautiful tour-guide Joanne who loves his company so much that she took leave on Monday just to bring him around. He has a good photographer Joe who art-directed him on every touristic shot! He has a group of drinkers who brought him to club at the notorious, sleazy Orchard Towers! And he has sexy Ida dancing with him whole night long!

NIGHTMARE – Poor Harshad (who doesn’t eat alot) – he was "forced" by me to try all the Singapore’s local delicacies within 1 day! From Ya-Kun Kaya to Katong Laksa to Jumbo Seafood Chili Crab, he had to down all these sinful Asian food! And at night, I arranged my Wahbiang Clan to "drunk" him. One by one, Joanne, Yixi and Meijie "bottom-up" with him. (We forgot he is an Ah-Nei, it took a while before we saw any effect on him!)

Overall, we had lots of fun with Harshad. Guess Meijie and Joanne loved him so much that they sent him right to the airport! Wow… Meijie never even did that for me! Wonder what kind of charm my Indian buddy has on Chinese… his magic and charm worked in DGSZ and SGP. In just 60 hours, Harshad met my close friends and family (my aunt/cousin/parents). He not only stole my son’s love in HK, he also won the hearts of my buddies and families in Singapore! Well done, GAD!

A Blissful Weekend in Singapore

This must be my shortest home trip since 2006.
And what a blissful and back-breaking weekend – 1 wedding and 1 baby shower (coincidently, all TP friends!). Right after we landed and checked into the hotel, Tracy, Harshad and I rushed to see Zach at Juli-Duuk house. Haaaa… Zach is so so like Duuk! Hairy and strong. A pity that we couldn’t stay long – as we have a wedding dinner to run that night!

The venue of the wedding dinner was so special – it was an outdoor garden wedding held at my old Temasek Polytechnic. Facing the scenic calm Bedok Reservoir, Boi and April’s solemnisation took place under a beautiful sun set, on a full moon evening. It was beautiful. "Back to where it all began" – the title of their wedding card – deepen the meanings of having their vows in the design school compound. This was the place where they first met, courted and fatefully married. It was also the place where I made many of my best friends till this very date.

It was more than just a wedding dinner. It was a good reunion with my design friends. Friends from all corners came and united on this very special date. I met the old girls and boys from my class (Bread, Diane, Vivianne, Zan, Cecilia, Christina, Iris, MC, Joey, Nelson, Winfred, Steiner, Teck, Dominic and Sherry) For the first time, I met Martin‘s Japanese wife. And for the first and possibly the last time, I heard Randy sang Chinese Song on the stage. He can really sing!!!

In short, this wedding will be my most enjoyable one. (I coined this the Temasek Idol Night – you have so many great performance on stage!) For a very long time since our last Wahbiang wedding, never has another wedding dinner left me with such great joy and warmth. Maybe it was the venue. But it was certainly the friends around me that night. To reunite with your old classmates, attending a garden wedding dinner, exactly 10 years later at the very same spot where we all last seperated, was just so meaningful and magical. A short reunion but a lifetime remembrance.

Congrats to both Boi & April and Juli & Duuk.

Zach Day

I was crossing China-HK Custom when Juliana spoke to me in her usual loud voice. Just 10 seconds ago, Felicia delivered the good news to me – Zach is out! Trust me, she didn’t sound like a woman who have just gave birth. She was in her usual tone and manner – "Yeeehheeee, yalor…me just gave birth!" My goodness, it is either giving birth is becoming effortless these days or Juli was still high on "coke"?

Zach arrived 3 hours before Felicia’s flight to HK on 22nd May 2009 (my favourite number!) I have no luck with Zach – I was in Singapore for 11 days and Juli was still belly-sitting him around! I even tried to create a "panic" to get Zach popped out by "accidentally" spilled a full cup of Iced Milo over Juli. (Trust me, it is a myth that pregnant woman is slow in reaction. You should see how lightning fast Juli reacted in that spilt nano-second to avoid the oncoming Milo!)

Congrats to both King Duuk and Queen Juli. From the photo, I am sure you have an adorable and active prince. He will be as witty and wise like his dad and as authorative like his mum. Haaaa.. I better count my blessings in the coming days – Juli will be back to her "Aiyoh!" snaps once again! I have been poking really bad jokes on her since she sported that belly!

Have fun with parenthood!
