Cosplay-Theme Cafe

(Photo Taken: "Home Cafe", Japan)

Originally, I wanted Martin to bring me to some of the "infamous" spots in Tokyo – namely the "Human Sashimi Bar" or the local "Strip Joint". As those places are way above our budget, Martin suggested we dine at this fancy cafe. He told me it is a "must try".

This is indeed a happy "Cosplay" cafe. Inside this place, you have very beautiful and kawaii waitresses. They called themselves "maids" but to me, they are professional entertainers. They can sing, dance and even host a good birthday party. It is a very special and unique dining experience. For SGD30. you get a set-meal and an instant shot with your favourite Kawaii Maid.

When you are ordering your food, the Maid will be asking for your nickname. (Just for fun, I called myself "SuperBoy"). When serving your drink or food, she will play with your food (by drawing any picture you tell her to draw). I asked for Doraemon and she drew it right away on top of my rice. And we cannot touch our food until we complete a routine of "manga" actions. The Maid will act out the action and we need to repeat after her. (It is fun but not the type of fun I had.)

This is quite a stupid and mindless place – but it is a happy dining place where you have very friendly kawaii girls to entertan you. Certainly for lonely nerds and dirty old men. Not for someone like us.

Hot Lucky Dice

(Photo Taken: Hong Kong International Airport – On my Trip back to Singapore)

For the first time, many of my friends called me for the "interesting" dice packaging they saw back in their home countries. These unique packaging can be only found in Hong Kong Airport and they are exclusive for a limited time only. The only way if you want to lay your hands on these hot-sellers – take a budget airline to Hong Kong and get them. Make sure you check with your own customs / tax etc.

Belated Birthday Gift for Gareth!

I was sourcing around for models for my “body-paint-art event” in HK. One of my buddy suppliers came back with these “models” (her name is Yuki). Haaaa… mmm, maybe the boys in Singapore would like to share this for Gareth’s belated birthday gift. Yes, they are the new wonder in Japan. Man, Jap girls are nice enough, wonder why the Japanese men still go for such toys?

I know some of my female readers are going to be unhappy with this post. Hey girls, dun just disregard these “porny-dolls” as some dirty sick toys- look at them as great works of art.

These dolls come with “internal bones structure” that allows you to bend their bodies into many poses. Most important, you can “pick-&-mix” their body parts- meaning, if you like the body and not the face, you can swap them anytime. Sounds like a real bargain! And according to the website, “pubic hairs” are optional. All these for only SGD10K -12K.

Before any one start buying one, please consider this problem – where do you want to dump these when you had enough of them? Do you chop them apart and start dumping their body parts at Kallang River or Orchard Road? Mmm…better not start another island-wide craze.

Sorry, not for me…cos’ I watched too many “Child Play” movies – and I am too lazy to shower and wax them.

A White Sunday Morning

I was in my good old lazy sleep when Felicia shook me up from my bed. “Come out to the balcony, look at the roofs outside!”

It was a pleasant sight. The roofs out there were all white. The cars in the parking lots were all white. The grass, roads, playgrounds and pavements were all white. I quickly ran back into the bedroom and dragged “frustrated” Elkan out of his sleep. Sure, he was like me – pulling the blackest face. I yelled “Elkan, let’s go down and play snow!” It was only 730am.

In no time, the three of us geared up and dashed downstairs. I nearly slipped off the pavements as it is coated with a very thin layer of ice. Everything was coated with snow. I bet what Joanne and Tracy are thinking right now – “Ai yah, miss that!”

Elkan was having fun stepping on the icy ground. Felicia was shivering. And me, clicking the photos away! I had such a wonderful week –  at least I managed to see snow in Shanghai before I fly back to Singapore. While the snow wasn’t thick enough for a game of snowball, it was just an elevator ride away. White enough to fulfill my little humble wish.

My 24th Love

Yes… Love is blind. After 8 good months of companionship, I hooked up with my new partner “Apple”. She has a very beautiful body ~ Slim, smooth and curvy.

She is extraordinary and controversial. Some love her. Some hate her. She is a new name in history. She offers a new experience (Scroll Nagivation). A new touch that man never knew exist. She changes the way we explore and communicate. She adjusts according to your need automatically ~ be it dark or bright needs (Backlight). She leads the way so that you will never get lost (Maps). She alerts you early so you will never get wet (Weather). She connects the world easily and bring me closer to my friends. (Wifi / Facebook)

Apple marks a new era in mobiletainment. It is really a wonder how a little carress can do to her. She is highly sensitive and responsive to your 1-2 finger strokes. Shake her, turn her – she shows you the right moves (motion sensor).

You can’t resist her presence. She replays your memory so fast and smooth (Speed). So colourful and sharp (Hi-res). So clear and vibrant (Audio).

However, like human, she comes with some flaws – strange but intentional. She seems to lack the basic skillsets. She doesn’t allow me to forward messages (forward SMS). She can’t do video. She can’t record voice or bluetooth audio. She has a common 3.5 jack but it seems that no other compatible jack can insert her. Right now, we can only match apple with apple.

Despite this little flaw, I still love Apple (the forbidden fruit). Cos’ it let me taste the power that the world have yet explore.

She is my new delight.

The debut of “CHubby Joe” Comic-Strip

Just got my new cartoon mascot "Chubby Joe" 2 days ago…and I am getting so excited about it. As usual, I am thinking of doing wild things with "it"… (too bad, I dun have any Barbie Dolls to play with "Chubby").

Why "Chubby Joe"? I dun know…I dun think I am chubby at all… Tracy did the illustration and got the maker to produce this one-and-only doll. Except for the tummy, everything on it is so "Joe" – The famous blue-tint glasses, the left mole on my brow, my corporate attire and my spikey hairdo.. The body shape is surely funny…too fat, you know… Okay, must show you guys my 6 packs one day.

So, what should I do with "Chubby"…? No no no… not for Elkan… he will tear it apart.. Not for Joanne either, she will turn it into a voodoo doll. Not for Tracy too…she will soak him in water "accidentally" – worst, red wine.
For Felicia? Er… no… She will put "Chubby"  under her blouse everyday…Haaaa.. Not for Kalinda too.. she will make "Chubby" go nude-tanning with her!

I think I will make "Chubby" a super blogstar! Call it the 1st star in BloggyWood. So, here is his debut comic strips…enjoy!  (Please give me some comments!)

Roving Clouds, Shooting Stars and Fireworks

The sky above us often displays the most spectacular emotions. In a clear breezy day, you could see cottons of roving clouds, forming shapes that are only limited by your little imagination. At night, you see millions of twinkling stars spread across the dark galaxy, dazzling across the dark mysterious sky.

Singaporeans are too busy to admire the enchanting sky. We are often surrounded by clusters of skyscrapers and urban canopy that blocked our sight of the horizon. While the trees and shaded walk-ways protect us from the harsh tropic sun and rain, it also cluttered our vision of the beautiful sky.

I guess the only time you find Singaporeans look up, gazing at the sky is either during a “well publicized” lunar eclipse, planet alignment, festive seasons or on 9th August – when the local will gathered in thousands near Esplanade at Marina Bay to watch those dazzling fireworks.

I have never given a damn thing about the “sky-gazing” – not until my first visit to Australia. For some reasons, every photograph (outdoor) turned out superbly well – without the aid of a colour-enhancement filter. The Aussie has the greenest fields, bluest sky and reddest sunset.

Winter Night, Year 1999 – During our first farm-stay at Bunbury, after dinner, Felicia and I sat decided to take a night stroll along the pond – just 5-min walk from our chalet. That night, we were both greeted with the most enchanting night sky.  In that perfect dark setting, we stood there (under 8 degrees), counting shooting stars and roving clouds. There was no street-lamp or exposed lightings to deter our vision for the clear “starry starry night”. It was an unforgettable sight.

Last night, both Felicia and I watched a marvelous display of fireworks just outside our windows at Eunos. No, it wasn’t the Deepavali fireworks. Neither has it got anything to do with the Hari Raya celebration. It was simply a gift from Mother Nature.

Streams of lightning flashed actively across the dark red sky. Strangely, it wasn’t thunderous. On the contrary, it gave us a very soothing and peaceful mood. Switching off all the lights in our house, we rolled up our window blinds, stood by our windows, gawking at nature’s most spectacular fireworks. (See photos).

For that few minutes, my fear for lightning has been replaced by a sentiment of love. Hypnotically and electrifying, it was indeed a very beautiful and breath-taking performance.
