First Love of Art

Yesterday, Elkan had his first National Art Competition at Kowloon Park. This reminded me so much of my childhood when my parents would enrolled me in those art competitions hosted by the community centers. I cannot remember the number of times I participated in those competitions but I can clearly remember the number of times I have won. (I brought home my 1st art trophy (1st Prize) at the age of 9 and that was a very very big trophy.) I even remember the winning art piece that I have drawn. It wasn’t the usual children art – it was unconventional, abstract and unique.
Felicia and Tracy too – had their fair share of winning moments in their childhood. So, you can imagine the "pressure" Elkan had. His daddy, mummy and auntie were art winners in our younger days but none of us impart any skills to him! Most of his school mates came prepared – they brought a copy of their best art piece and duplicated their drawings on the spot. (For some reasons, the participants knew about the "Topic of the Day" except us.) We arrived with a blank mind and paper.
How’s his performance? Lots of drama, laughters and debates. It took us so much effort to encourage him and get him into action. Daddy gave some creative direction. Mummy gave art direction and Auntie Bay Bay offered FA advice. A family of agency people. Or rather, an agency of family members. The 4 of us took 3 hours to finish the art work. For me, it was a very unique Sunday – good sun, cool breeze and an awesome outdoor experience.
Results? Dun know. Too many people – they may take 1-2 weeks to judge and announce. Not sure if Elkan’s drawing fits the theme. The topic was "Helping the Hungry Children".
HAHAHAHA.. "Daddy gave some creative direction. Mummy gave art direction and Auntie Bay Bay offered FA advice. A family of agency people. "Poor little Elkan, i tot u r lack of a line of copy. Wat abt this? — Just one egg w/ icecream may survive a Jr. draftsman, despite those CD, AD, BD over head.Result does not matter at all.
wow, a concept driven art piece! 心机重哟:)
