Kallang Roar in HK

We were eating MOS Burger at MEGABOX this afternoon when we heard the familiar roar "Go! Singapore! Go!" Out of curiosity, we dashed out and watched an ice-hockey match between Singapore and Beijing. Sitting on our left was a group of Chinese and Hong Kongers and on our right was a group of Singapore Ang Mohs. They were yelling and cheering for Singapore. It was an exciting (and a very evenly matched) match between 2 groups of Under-12s. The atmosphere was fantastic and the mood was very high! Harshad (my Indian colleague), Hong Fei (my Malaysian colleague) and I found ourselves cheering for Singapore! (Urghh… I should bring out my air-horn and those infamous Hokkien/Malay slogans!)

The final score – 5-3. The young lions thrashed the Chinese flat! It has been quite a while since I last cheered for Singapore sport. Except this time, I am not at the old Kallang Stadium… I was cheering in a Hong Kong shopping mall, doing the Kallang Roar with a bunch of Singaporean Ang Mohs…. . So incredible! The Singapore Fever is here again!

Labourless Weekend

I have been absent from my blog for the past 2 weeks. (This morning, Cousin Yei sms me and asked if I was busy). I have been really busy and sick…Not the swine flu – but there was a strange "diarrhoea virus" in my household. It all started with me – I had 3 days of extreme diarrhoea and doctor said it could be the bad Yakult that I drank. There were a lot of bad bateria in my tummy – it was so bad that I went to the loo at least 20 times in one night! Then, this virus hopped around the family – right after me, Felicia and Tracy had the same shit. (Elkan? He is lucky this time!)… I didn’t know diarrhoea can be air-borned.

Finally a long weekend – thanks to "Labourless Day" – I am free to take the family and friends out! (Tracy flew out last night to Taipei for a short weekend holiday!) This morning, I brought Hong Fei and family and Harshad to the Hong Kong Park – to test out our very poisonous photography hobby! (And we bumped into my client, Kenneth!) Later in the afternoon, we went to Megabox (and we bumped into another client, Auntie Sandy!) Haaa.. what an odd coincidence!

The Shutterbugs are here!

2 of Singapore’s best shutterbugs are in town this week! My 53rd & 54th visitors – Ming & Ernest!
(The pros are here… so it is better I keep my DSLR at home this weekend!)

Easter Art!

(Photo: This is Elkan’s first art competition attempt in HK and he won 3rd Runner-Up! Today, he and Felicia went to collect his prize Bunnie! Hmm… I only got my 1st art trophy when I was 9 and there is no bunnie. Haaaa… )

Historic Macau

It is Easter Holiday. We have a long 4-day weekend. We decided to spend our free time in Zhuhai and Macau on Friday and Saturday. This is my 10th trip to Macau but my 1st at the iconic Ruínas de São Paulo (the ruins of St Paul’s). The shopping streets around it are buzzing! For a moment, I thought I was back to Malacca (cos’ the architecture, the atmosphere and the flavour are so sino-portuguese!) Macau’s historic center is so colourful… there were street performances, beautiful paved-walkways, shophouses selling local snacks and lots of shopping!

Ogilvy Funland – No Admission Charge!

For those who have seen Google Office in the USA, check out Ogilvy’s Fun-Themed Office in Guangzhou! I have heard so much about it for almost 6 months – finally, on Thursday afternoon – Desmond (my 52nd HK Visitor) and I went there for a meeting! It is so interesting and fun to work there! What a dream space for great ideas! (Sigh, now I really think my Shanghai Office is a half-f**k themed space and my HK office is very much like a law or banking firm.)

Colouroke Man

Meet "Colouroke Man" of Mong Kong (my nickname for him). Drop a coin, colour his body and he sings you a song.

Eat Shit!

What a surprising "shitty treat" for my 51st HK Visitor, Miss Heidi Tang (my old Shanghai colleague!). Finally, we made our way to the well-known "Modern Toilet" restaurant at Mong Kong this evening. When I told Heidi that I am going to treat her to "eat shit", she didn’t find this amusing!

It is everything that we have heard of. Fast-food dining in a nice colourful toilet environment. Poo-looking lightings, toilet seatings and dinner sinks. Imagine eating brown-creamy curry from the toilet bowl and drinking foamy yellow lemon tea from a mini-urinal! Wait till you read the dishes names in the menu… It is everything our parents hate!

The food is not bad (I will give it a 7.5 rating). Portion is big and the price is very reasonable, ranging around HKD40-60/set. Sadly, they didn’t have good old smelly yummies like "smell bean curd" or "durain" in their menu. If they do have, that will be a "match-made in heaven" dish! (A little disappointment that they didn’t their waiters dressing like janitors).

Mmm…if patrons can accept a "shit restaurant", it won’t be long before someone opens a "sex restaurant". Imagine all the food you eat there! It will be 100% hot, wild, steamy and certainly erotic! Make the diners lick, bite, suck and swallow… Opps, I may be going a little too far.
