There is something terribly wrong with our education. I kept seeing such low-graded human beings everywhere I go. These are people who need to find an scheming excuse to live another day. These are people who need to make someone else look so bad so they feel better about themselves. And there are many people who just can’t stop finding faults. Worst of the kinds – people who are so damn well-versed with laws and policies – they can use their bible to excuse them from their wrongdoings.
Haaa.. this is not my 1st wake-up call about the "REAL WORLD". What puzzled me is why our society allows us to glorify such indecent souls and many times, we have to silently endured their existence? Where are the good days of old codes of conducts?
Last week, I joined a friend drinking in China. It was a horrible pub – I saw drunk men in suits grabbing the poor waitresses and molesting them. One of them even put his hands under a waitress’s blouse – the pub managers just stood there and looked! (I dare these fuckers to do that in Singapore!) I chatted with the waitress who served our table – why would she want to work in such environment for that little money?
"I know I have other options. I am just too impatient to clear the funeral debts back home. My dad and grandfather passed away 6 months ago and things changed overnight. My mother is old and sick. I have to come out here to work so she need not to work so hard to pay off the debt." she said.
"How much is the debt?" I asked.
When we later chatted about her "trip home", she told me it will take her more than 30 hours to go home as she is taking interstates train. I asked her why don’t she just take a 2-hour flight.
"My money is hard-earned cash. I have lots of free time. I am not rushing anywhere. I can saved RMB500-700 taking train!" She explained.
I was very touched by her words. Before I leave the pub, I passed her RMB500 at the door. To my surprise, she returned me the money.
"Thanks for being such a nice customer. But I do not need your money." she said.
"No…those are the tips for your service tonight, girl." I insisted.
"Sir, please don’t do this. You gave me RMB500 because of the story I told you. I am really fine. You have already gave me a RMB100 tip just now."
"Look, just say it is a treat from me. Please accept it." I insisted again.
She stood there…shaking her head, smiling shyly at me and walked away. No, she didn’t take the money. I kept it in my wallet. I left the pub.
It is time like this when I do feel there is hope in our rotting society. In this small pub, nowhere in Guangzhou, I met a normal girl with that basic sense of grace.
Back to my city life, glamour-job – with beautiful educated people. Sadly, nothing comes close here.
Back at the train station, I overheard a conversation. A boyfriend was shopping for a necklace for his girlfriend.
"Yes, these crystals & silvers are cheap and beautiful. But they are not real. They will turn yellow and rust easily. I know I cannot afford many real ones but I will still wait for the day when I can buy just one. At least till then, I know that one is real and I get to keep it for a long long time. I don’t need so many fake beautiful things. I only need one real thing to keep forever.." the girl said to her boyfriend.
So simple, so true. This applies on people and relationship.
Trust me, I have no patience and kind words for the masked world. Cos’ I shall reserve my true heart for those who are in need out there.

I am always there for my family. I was there when Elkan was borned. I was there by his side when he slept. And I was there beside him when he woke up. I was there whenever my darling needed a hug. Of course, I know I won’t be there when one of us completes his/her journey. And I won’t be there to whisper goodbye to him/her. Same things about our parents, we can never be there with them throughout their entire lifetime.. but only lovingly with them towards the end of their journey.
Life is such a Gift. Be it good or bad, every second of being alive is just such a great feeling. No matter how long or short one’s life is, it is always sad to end the journey and leave our loved ones behind. Our passion to live after death is so strong. Faithfully I prayed – may there be life after death.
Perhaps, I just hate to be reminded of this very basic fact. "We are borned to die" (a phase I remember from Sam). And a collection of memories can be so beautiful yet sad. Yes, I do cherish everything I have in my life. Every second of it. And every thing I do.
Perhaps it is a good time to release my mind from thinking what I want to do for my work. But more of what I want to do with my own family. (One hour OT per day is about 15 good days a year!) I can write a long list of bucket list but it is best to do it with the ones I love. Before cancer knocks on one of our doors. And before we close our eyes forever.
Death is a good reminder how short our lives are. And how fragile it can be. Let’s find the joys in our lives.

8:15am – "Another bad omen. Last night, a tree branch fell and hit Sir Stamford Raffles’ Statue. Part of bodies broken!"
8:30am – "Playboy and PentHouse Magazines will finally be on shelves in Singapore end 2010".
Gareth called me and exclaimed "Finally, we can be in porn business!"
Francis messaged me "So what, unless you become their marketing director!"
9:00am – "Mango Asia may be closing down. Clearing out sales from now till end April"
Indeed, believing is fullfilling. It is simple mind-power. That is how I won the "World’s Greatest Business Mind" and "Star of Disneyland" awards! My mother and sister would be so damn proud of me! And my buddy Gareth congratulated me with the most heartwarming words "Bro, you finally made it!"
11:50pm – Check my 2 award-winning videos: Click AWARD 1 / AWARD 2
Please remember this very special day.

You see, life in itself is a very big gift. A gift that contains many little gifts. While you can search for that one perfect gift inside this box, we know we will never find one. Cos’ we change with time too. Expectation may end up in disappointment. Contentment breeds happiness. Passion drives reality.
Yes, the best lesson of life is taught through love and many heartbreaks. And at times when you think you are lost, you will be surprised that there is always someone at the corner for you. And for that one moment, forget those destinations you had in your head. Let your heart be your best compass. All you need is just one good journey.

In just 5 short days, I reunited with 20 old friends on Facebook. These are my secondary school friends from Dunman! And it is so amazing how one MSN on Monday connected so many souls! Vincent Chng (my primary and secondary pal) MSN me about attending Yonghui‘s wedding on 8th March. I was so so excited that I begged Vincent to give me any contact to link up with my lost pals – especially the old "Ermei" clan!
On the same day, Meijie sent me a image link (on Facebook) – it was my Sec 3 class photo! From that link, I traced back a library of "people tags" and found many old friends! Karen, Genieve, Baoxuan, Elaine, George and Wenhui! Wenhui is very very nice, she linked me up with the rest of her contacts! Within the next 48 hours, I have many more old Dunman mates (Ida, Mark, Christina, Ginny, Owen, Gerald etc) coming in! You can never guess the level of excitement inside me! I was so excited that I rushed home and updated my wife (also from Dunman) about them!
Many "small worlds" started to surface. One of the biggest surprise is Ida Ong (my old puppy love) is Francis Goh’s colleague in OgilvyOne. And Yonghui knows my most recent HK visitors – Sally and Jack! Oh my gosh! Isn’t Facebook damn powerful and useful! Haaa.. okay, for this very second (and never again), I am going to say once and for all- "FACEBOOK, I F**KING LOVE YOU!" (The search continue… it is going to be tough as I realised many of us are using English names instead of our old familiar names!)

So were these great artists and inventors- Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Picasso, Henry Ford, Albert Einstein and Newton. Not forgetting those great leaders and conquerers like The late Gandhi, Winston Churchill, Napoleon, Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. Even the world’s number one most wanted criminal today – Osama Bin Laden – He too, unfortunately a leftie.
What about the ladies? Sure – and these are famous icons you know today. A-listed Hollywood icons like Nicole Kidman, Kim Basinger, Demi Moore, Marilyn Monroe, Oprah Winfrey, Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie and more! (And yes… Jay Leno and David Letterman are both favourite Talkshow lefties too!)
Here is an interesting article about Lefties: http://www.thenational.ae/article/20080728/FOREIGN/250776884/1014/

I am a self-confessed BATA shoes lover. Cos’ it has been my favourite sole-mate since primary school days. Back at home, we call it "Buy And Throw Away". BATA isn’t seen as an international shoe brand – more like a neighbourhood one. Seriously, I always had the impression that BATA comes from Thailand or Malaysia (Urgh… those were the manufacturing countries!). I would never imagine BATA being an European brand – and certainly not a brand that have lasted more than a hundred years!
BATA is named after its founder "Tomas Batá". It was founded back in 1894 – now Czech Republic (yes.. 8 years younger than Coka-Cola and 61 years older than McDonald’s). Today, BATA can be found in over 50 countries and throughout its 115-year hertiage, it was estimated that BATA has produced more than 14 billions pairs of shoes. Impressive origin and marvelous heritage. I bet many of you didn’t know this.
It is no wonder when BATA opened in Shanghai – an orindary pair of BATA business shoes can fetch up to RMB1,000 (SGD200!). The same pair back home in Singapore only cost SGD89. Perhaps BATA is going back to recognise its roots. Surely (for me), BATA Shoes are very affordable and comfortable. It has been my sole-mates over the last 20 years – walking me from school to home, pathing all my life adventures. I wore them during my graduation. I wore them into my new home. I wore it during my business-setup days. And I am still faithfully wearing them today.
Not just buy and throw away. More like buy and travel again.
