Sweet Farewell

It is time to say goodbye to 2 iron-ladies (friends or nemesis), Natalie and Jaslin. They have done the most unimaginable torture to my body, mind and soul throughout the last 6 months. We spent many days winning ridiculous  "mission impossible" projects. Rounds after rounds…nights after nights…they are one of the many reasons why I went through the amazing 48-hour marathon work.

It was never "love at first sight" with these ladies. Honestly, I was always thinking how I should torture them back in kind. Their crimes were plenty. Natalie made me feel like an appliance. I was her type-writer and her words were fingers, commanding my every input. Jaslin bullied me with her verbal abuses. My goodness, we are Singaporeans and Malaysians. We should love each other, shouldn’t we?

Of course, I do miss them. Now they are gone… how am I going to strike my sweet revenge. I am just in the midst of setting up Bomb Scott with Nat. And before I can do something "evil", Jaslin told me she is leaving too. Girls, sigh… let me repay you my deepest kindness. You know, that kind…

Nat be heading back to KL and Jaslin leaving for Shanghai. Well, guess they will miss me too for I brought out the best and worst in them.

The Pinkest Wild Dolphins

Believe it or not, there are wild dolphins out there in Hong Kong. Surviving the polluted waters and congested sea port, these pink dolphins can be found in waters less than 2 kilometers away from the Hong Kong International Airport.

After more than 1 year talking about this, we decided to go out there to see these dolphins. It was a 4-hour excursion. We paid HKD360/adult and HKD160/child. The weather was great – sunny blue sky and cool ocean breeze.

Dolphin-spotting is not easy. Unless you come with a good pair of binoculars or a super zoom lens, you are not going to get anywhere close to these magnificent mammals. (Unless you hired your own private boat to stalk them illegally.) Due to their unusual colour (pink), it was very difficult to spot them from a distant. You may mistake the "white caps" (waves) as their fins. Each appearance, these dolphins stayed about 2-3 seconds above water – it was very challenging to snap them. Elkan was grumbling all the time as he had little patience to spot them. He was more interested running up and down between the decks. (Eventually, he vomited and caused a big stinky mess.)

Our encounter with the Pinkies was short and little. Nevertheless, it was more than just "dolphin-spotting", it was a very unique Sunday experience. It was a special treat for Tracy (her birthday gift!) Out there in the sea, we had a splendid view of the airport and the landing planes. All of us really enjoyed the sunny
weather and the boat ride. At least, I got myself a good tan.

First Love of Art

Yesterday, Elkan had his first National Art Competition at Kowloon Park. This reminded me so much of my childhood when my parents would enrolled me in those art competitions hosted by the community centers. I cannot remember the number of times I participated in those competitions but I can clearly remember the number of times I have won. (I brought home my 1st art trophy (1st Prize) at the age of 9 and that was a very very big trophy.) I even remember the winning art piece that I have drawn. It wasn’t the usual children art – it was unconventional, abstract and unique.

Felicia and Tracy too – had their fair share of winning moments in their childhood. So, you can imagine the "pressure" Elkan had. His daddy, mummy and auntie were art winners in our younger days but none of us impart any skills to him! Most of his school mates came prepared – they brought a copy of their best art piece and duplicated their drawings on the spot. (For some reasons, the participants knew about the "Topic of the Day" except us.) We arrived with a blank mind and paper.

How’s his performance? Lots of drama, laughters and debates. It took us so much effort to encourage him and get him into action. Daddy gave some creative direction. Mummy gave art direction and Auntie Bay Bay offered FA advice. A family of agency people. Or rather, an agency of family members. The 4 of us took 3 hours to finish the art work. For me, it was a very unique Sunday – good sun, cool breeze and an awesome outdoor experience.

Results? Dun know. Too many people – they may take 1-2 weeks to judge and announce. Not sure if Elkan’s drawing fits the theme. The topic was "Helping the Hungry Children".
