My 47th Visitor – Hovman Goh

Every time someone visits me from Singapore, I will certainly get them to bring me a copy of 8-days. Looking at the 50 over issues of 8-days, it seems that I have a bi-weekly subscription of 8-days.

It is unbelievable! Shanghai is such a popular destination amongst my Singapore buddies! Hovman – my 47th visitor! And more are coming! And no, there is no budget airline from Singapore to Shanghai. It is purely the good old attraction of charming Shanghai.

No matter what, you guys are more than just a number! You added so much life and fun to my funless life here. Hovman should have extend his trip a little longer. We are just so near to the real fun. We ended up buying jeans at Huai Hai Road.

Sigh…it is always a little sad to say goodbye to my friends and family. But before I knew it, it was another "hello". Guess I am extremely blessed.

Anyway, where is Jimmy? Meijie? And Gareth? Grrrrr……come come, I show you nice nice massage and KTV. Man, you guys are supposed to be my "bros"?

Weekend with Cousin Alvin

Cousin Alvin dropped by Shanghai this weekend. Since young, he has been one of my favourite cousins. We are like 12 years apart and his son is 17 years old now! (Elkan is only 3!) As he is my dad’s sister’s son, we hardly meet up at all in Singapore. In fact, we last met and chatted briefly in 2002 (at my wedding). So, you can imagine we never exchange a word for the past 5 years.

It is never awkward to meet a long-lost cousin. I took some hours off on Friday and met him. Guess we shared the same chemistry, we chatted like old friends. To my surprise, he was closer to my dad than I. He told me about his regular meet-ups with my dad. My dad spends more time on other people than on his own son. I am not complaining but I guess this is how we manage our dad-son relationship. Silently in love, I guess.

I was tasked by Cousin Yei to show Alvin around. (I have done this "tour-guide" job many times!) But this weekend, we decided to do something different. At least, Felicia and Tracy won’t be bored. So, we decided to go up the Pearl (Asia’s Tallest Tower, World 3rd) and see Shanghai 350m high. And later, walk under HuangPu River (Tourist Tunnel) from Pudong to the Bund. Wow, what a way to experience old-new Shanghai (from air to underground).

Guess I am not the only one meeting cousin this week. While we were having our dessert near the Pearl on Friday night, Felicia bumped into her Singapore cousin! Like Alvin, Felicia and her cousin hardly meet up in Singapore (except during CNY dinner). She was there with her hubby for the weekend! And I just found out that her cousin is also working for Ogilvy back in Singapore. So, you can imagine that kind of excitement – seeing someone you know on a foreign soil. I hate to say this but "what a small world!" Guess I was right, Shanghai is freaking small! I keep bumping into Singaporean on streets!

My life is full of strange coincidence. And I am glad these are great stories to remember by.

The Montblanc City

Chinese loves Montblanc. Looking at the numbers of fake Montblanc pens selling on Huai Hai Lu. And now, a "Montblanc" roundabout. (Photo taken: 300m high, at Pudong Pearl Tower)

An Unlikely Duo

Mm..a deliberate joke by the shop staff? For a moment, I thought they have patched back.

The One We Miss So Much!

Photo Only Exclusive at the Wahbiang Blog. (The brand new Kal-lendar)

Yes, she-STAR is back ~ after 1 month of traveling, putting weight and staying young! Our favourite next-door poster girl is back with a brand new makeover. She is not just more sexy, she came home a happier person! From Shanghai to Hangzhou to Hong Kong, we had so much fun with Kalinda throughout her short stay. (I bet she did!) Time flies so fast…living together meaningfully and fruitfully.

She certainly made a huge presence here in Shanghai. She left people crying for her. She touched their hearts and her absence is greatly missed (at both Singapore and Shanghai). I was surprised that she even got an escort on the day she arrived at Singapore.

“Will you miss me?” she asked many times, days before she departed Shanghai. I gave her a very typical Joe’s reply. “Yah yah..we will miss lah!”

On a serious note, Kal. I am beginning to feel her absence. Elkan and Tracy were sad that morning Kal left our house. The words in her cards touched our hearts. Though she hardly add any “noise”, we seems to lose that bit of “life” and “laughter”. We miss her a lot. (Sniff, sniff)

(Kal, Guess you are going to have many requests (from Gareth, Yifu, Duuk and Yixi) for your new photos. Remember, I have the exclusives. Dun share with those nuts. For more photos, visit my PICASSA.)

Hot Chicks on Wheels!

We should get rid of our street "Flyers Aunties" and get this young chicks on wheel. Aren’t they attractive! Let the flyers fly, baby! (Photo: Huai Hai Road)

My New Properties in Shanghai

I bought a new house for Elkan this July. Felicia and I spent 2 good hours building it. And guess what, my lovely guest buddy (Kalinda) bought me a new house too! We supposed to complete it before she left However, we didn’t managed to do that. Yes, we have 1 whole month (October) but we spent all our time eating, shopping and traveling. Guess, I have to build this myself. (Shit!)

The ladies did built something for me. Tracy, Kal & Felicia built me a super roller-coaster (like the one in the movie “FACTURE”). It is great. It requires super precision and patient. And the 3 ladies did it well. Let the ball rolling!

My 24th Love

Yes… Love is blind. After 8 good months of companionship, I hooked up with my new partner “Apple”. She has a very beautiful body ~ Slim, smooth and curvy.

She is extraordinary and controversial. Some love her. Some hate her. She is a new name in history. She offers a new experience (Scroll Nagivation). A new touch that man never knew exist. She changes the way we explore and communicate. She adjusts according to your need automatically ~ be it dark or bright needs (Backlight). She leads the way so that you will never get lost (Maps). She alerts you early so you will never get wet (Weather). She connects the world easily and bring me closer to my friends. (Wifi / Facebook)

Apple marks a new era in mobiletainment. It is really a wonder how a little carress can do to her. She is highly sensitive and responsive to your 1-2 finger strokes. Shake her, turn her – she shows you the right moves (motion sensor).

You can’t resist her presence. She replays your memory so fast and smooth (Speed). So colourful and sharp (Hi-res). So clear and vibrant (Audio).

However, like human, she comes with some flaws – strange but intentional. She seems to lack the basic skillsets. She doesn’t allow me to forward messages (forward SMS). She can’t do video. She can’t record voice or bluetooth audio. She has a common 3.5 jack but it seems that no other compatible jack can insert her. Right now, we can only match apple with apple.

Despite this little flaw, I still love Apple (the forbidden fruit). Cos’ it let me taste the power that the world have yet explore.

She is my new delight.
